Days go by

It's hard to believe that Logan is 3 weeks old already!  Since having Hailey, I have realized how fast time goes and have really tried to cherish every moment with our little ones, but my goodness - time is flying!

Logan and I have spent the last few weeks snuggling, going for walks, and running all over town. So far, he has been such a good, easy going little guy.  We have been getting a good amount of sleep. We actually have to wake him up for middle of the night feedings, otherwise he would sleep 8 hours plus.  The past couple of evenings he's been a little cranky and seems to have some tummy troubles, we're really hoping its not colic like Hailey had - those were the longest 3 months ever!  At least this time we will be better prepared if need be.

Hailey has adjusted to her big sister role quite well. She loves to help us hold and feed him and is always looking out for "my Logan" as she calls him.  Any time he starts crying, she is quick to grab his paci and start singing twinkle twinkle little star for him - so sweet!  She really loves her baby brother.

Here are a few pics from the past couple of weeks.  I feel like a bad mommy because I haven't taken as many pics of him as I did Hailey when she was little bitty, but then again I've realized I may have went a little overboard (in many ways) when Hailey was a baby.  Funny how things are a lot more relaxed the second time around!

Logan's Arrival

After anxiously awaiting the arrival of our little boy, Saturday September 17th, 2011 was the big day!  When the 37 week ultrasound estimated that Logan was already 8 pounds, I decided on induction. We were hoping to induce about a week early, but due to all the September babies the hospital was booked and would only take people who were actually in labor.  I kept praying I would wake up with bad contractions in the middle of the night, but no luck.

We arrived at the hospital on Saturday morning a little before 7:00. We decided to take Hailey with us, hoping that she would better understand what was going on as things happened and not be scared just walking into a room with momma already in a bed with all these wires everywhere.  She did really well!

I got checked in, wired up, and started on the pitocin by around 7:45.  The monitors indicated that I was already having moderate contractions, which I had been having for a couple weeks now, they just were not consistent enough to make much progress. So the waiting began.

Hailey passed the time watching her new favorite movie, Tangled

After a few hours, Hailey was bored - there's only so much for a 2 1/2 year old to do in a hospital room.  We sent her home with Nana and Gramps until it was time for Logan to arrive.  The nurse kept cranking up the pitocin to regulate my contractions and we kept waiting.

Once the doctor broke my water and I got my epidural, things started progressing and it was smooth sailing.  The actual what they call "hard labor" and delivery phase went pretty quickly and wasn't too bad.  The nurse said it was time, we called our families back up to the hospital, and by the time they arrived, Logan was here!

We had a few minutes with just the four of us before the rest of our visitors came to check things out.  Hailey was so excited!

Seeing her little brother for the first time!

Because she was so good that day, Logan brought a "present" for his big sis.

A Tangled doll!  This kept her entertained the rest of the weekend.
Money well spent  :)

Sunday was spent visiting with family and friends, And snuggling this little guy!

We had more visitors Monday morning, Logan is quite popular!  We made it home a little after noon on Monday.  We're so happy to be home with our family of 4.

Waiting for Logan

Only 5 days until my due date and I can't wait!  I go to bed every night hoping I will wake up at 3am with labor pains, but so far nothing.  Every morning I get up, get myself ready and waddle into work.  Don't get me wrong, I do wake up at 3am almost every night - and usually 12:30, 2:00, and 4:30.  I know it is just my body's way of preparing itself to be up all night long, but the lack of sleep is starting to get the best of me.  At least when Logan is here, it will be worth getting up multiple times a night.

I'm also getting very impatient this time around. With Hailey, I was hoping to go early, but just kinda chilled until her due date; this time I've been sitting on go for a few weeks now.  It doesn't help knowing that the doc says Logan is plenty big enough, they think he is over 8lbs already! That makes me more than a little nervous.  I really hope something happens soon - we can't wait to meet our little guy!

While we're waiting, here's a few pics of Logan's room.
I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I love the bedding!  Cute for a little boy, but manly at the same time!  Kevin designed and painted the tree in the corner, it is just adorable!

Beautiful Weather

We finally got some cooler weather and were able to spend some time outside this weekend.  We packed a picnic lunch and headed to the playground.

Summer Days

Between the combination of record breaking heat and my (near record breaking) growing belly, needless to say we’ve been spending our days indoors.

I would love to be out swimming, going to the park, and taking more road trips, but we’ve found ways to have fun indoors too.

I really hope we have some cooler weather in the next few weeks.  I want to be able to enjoy some time outdoors with Hailey before Logan arrives.

Announcing....

Baby Boy's name will be............

 Logan Reid

We had considered using Logan Reid before we knew if Hailey was a girl or boy, so when we found out that baby #2 is a boy I immediately jumped back to Logan. There's so many cute names out there that it took us a while to be sure, but I think Logan just seems to fit.

50's Party

Last week was 50's day at daycare. Everyone dressed up, drank coke floats, and had a hula hoop and dance contest.  Here's a couple pics of Hailey in her poodle skirt.

Tulsa Trip

After spending the past several weekends fighting off sore throats and colds, we finally got to take our trip to the aquarium.  When we told Hailey where we were going, all she would talk about was wanting to see the sharks, nemo fish, and turtles!  Oh, and the ice cream I told her we would eat at the pizza place.  Two year olds forget nothing!

We arrived in Tulsa for a late lunch, then hit the aquarium

When she was scared to get close to this shark statue, I thought we were going to be in for a long afternoon, but she did okay.  I just had to remind myself that she was seeing things she had never seen before in real life, I would have been a little scared too!

 Looking at the starfish
Notice the mass of curls on my child's head.  Her hair was perfectly straight when we left the house, but the humidity makes it curl right up. I would love to have curls like hers.

 Baby turtles on a log

Waiting to touch a stingray!
I guess the stingrays are used to people messing with them because when everyone put their hands in the water, they swam right over turned up on their sides and started splashing everyone!  The little girls standing next to us got soaked. Hailey just got a few splashes, but it was hilarious. Wish I would have had our video camera.

Next was the shark tunnel. The lack of light made it difficult to get any good pictures.  Hailey liked the sharks until Daddy pointed out the "scary teeth" on this guy.  At this point, Hailey was ready to "Go Home!"

So, we went and found the Nemo fish.  Dorie was even in the tank too!  Hailey was a happy girl.

After the aquarium we headed to the Carter's store to find baby brother some clothes.  Hailey was more interested in playing with the lego table than helping us shop, so needless to say we didn't get much accomplished.  Oh well, that's what online shopping is for.

Next it was time for Incredible Pizza!  This place is awesome for kids. It's like a giant Chuck E. Cheese  They have arcade games, an indoor go kart track, bumper cars, bowling, and mini golf.  They also have a huge buffet with pizza, pasta, salad, potato bar, dessert, and tons of other stuff.  The pizza is so so, but if you leave hungry it's your own fault.  Best of all, you can eat and play, eat and play as much as you want.  Hailey refused to eat anything but ice cream, but hey you're only young once. After two bowls of ice cream, the girl was hyped up!  She was dancing and jumping all over the place. She was the dance dance revolution queen!

Going for the pass, Hailey and Daddy got 2nd place!

Bowling!

She loved her balloon animal ladybug!

After 3 1/2 hours of playing, we were getting worn out. We stopped by Bass Pro for a bit on the way home. Hailey liked looking at the boats.  We finally headed home around 10 o'clock. Can you believe it was still 98 degrees in Tulsa when we left?  The heat was horrible and after being in and out of the car and chasing a 2 year old all day, Kevin and I were wiped out, but we had a good day with just our little family of three!

Baby Boy Update

So I just checked my little pregnancy ticker and I have less than 100 days to go!  Woohoo!  I'm getting so excited to meet our little man. This week baby boy is about 14 inches long and weighs almost 2 pounds.  His lungs are developing this week and he should now be able to hear my voice.  I know his hearing works because every time a song with a good beat comes on, he starts dancing!  He also kicks fire out of me if I try to sing and jam out in the car.  Pretty sad when my unborn child can already tell that his Mommy has no musical ability at all.  Hailey is also quite the critic of my singing.  As soon as I start singing, she yells for me to stop!

Speaking of Hailey, I think she is finally starting to understand that a little brother is on the way.  For the longest time she would just give us a blank look when we mentioned the baby. Now she talks about mommy having a baby in her belly and little brother this and little brother that.  She also likes to rub my belly and feel him kick.

And kick - boy does he kick!  He is such an active little booger.  I remember calling Hailey a little monkey, but baby boy is so much worse.  Some days I'm worn out just from him moving around so much.  Other than aches and pains, I can't really complain.  Overall I've felt pretty good.  I'm getting really excited to be having a little boy and can't wait for September to get here!

------
Here's a peek at the bedding we picked out and got ordered (thanks mom & dad!).  I've chosen a crib too, but waiting for a good sale.  Oh, and we've pretty much decided on a name, but I want to be sure before I announce it.

Memorial Day Weekend

After all the rain lately, we were ready to spend some time outdoors.  Thankfully, we were blessed with some gorgeous weather this past weekend and from what I hear the rest of the week is supposed to be warm and dry.  That's some great news, especially for our poor back yard which has nearly washed away.

On Saturday, we headed to Lake Fort Smith for a picnic lunch and afternoon in the sun.

The water was pretty muddy and we were a little disappointed that the pedal boats wouldn't accommodate the three of us, but Hailey had a good time throwing rocks in the water, picking flowers, and playing on the playground.

We spent Monday afternoon splashing in Hailey's new pool.  Now that she's a big girl, it was time for a bigger pool.  Now Mommy and Daddy can sit in it and cool off too.  We set it up at the bottom of her slide and she had a blast!
